Three Awesome Covers

Who doesn't like covers? Well, a lot of people don't, but sometimes, someone does the song so well that it makes for a great tribute to the original.

Pumped Up Kicks (Foster the People) - April Chase

I'm ninety-nine percent sure that their vocalist was a classmate of mine from way back during the Age of Mists, but that doesn't mean they're not any good - on the contrary, this SF-based indie band is pretty cool.

Their cover of Pumped Up Kicks made its way to my playlist months ago. Why? Listen to it here.

I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend (Black Kids) - Rizza Cabrera

I discovered old songs from this artist from the depths of Bandcamp (and there are quite a lot), although she's pretty much on Soundcloud these days.

Rizza's take on this famous Black Kids song gives us a glimpse of how it was originally meant to be sung - by a girl. It's pretty cool to hear the original and the cover side-by-side.

Check out her other stuff here.

Can't Take My Eyes Off You (Frankie Vallie) - Muse

What happens when you take a very old (and popular) song and let Muse have its way with it?

Their cover has caused LSS for the past few days now, not that I'm complaining. Besides, The Second Law was such a huge letdown (with the exception of Madness, that one grew on me somehow), so all's good.

As a side note, this was the first time I bought a band's EP, and it's just because of this cover. The other songs aren't too bad though (and it's pretty cheap).
